Preface
After successful meetings on vortex flows and related numerical methods, in particular the first workshop of the present series, the Second International Workshop on Vortex Flows and Related Numerical Methods was held in August 1995 in the Laurentians Mountains, north of Montreal, Canada. The Edmundston Campus of the Université de Moncton hosted the meeting attended by more than one hundred participants from around the world.This volume presents a collection of forty-one papers that were presented at the meeting. The subject of these papers range from applications of numerical methods to vortex flows and vorticity dynamics to new developments in three-dimensional numerical methods using vorticity formulations.
The publication of the volume in the form of an electronic book available on the Internet represents an innovative form of archival publication. Such a publication should allow a fast dissemination and a large diffusion of the work presented.
Many persons and organizations have contributed to the publication of this book. First of all, we thank the authors for their excellent contributions and their cooperation in the review process of the papers. The referees who have reviewed the papers provided an important contribution to the book. The Edmundston Campus of the Université de Moncton has also provided an important support in the realization of this book, in particular thru the assistance of the Centre de multimedia appliquee (CMA). The editorial aspects of the book have been facilitated by the expert assistance of Mr. Michel Martin of the CMA.
