Preface
After several meetings on vortex flows and related numerical methods, in particular the first and the second International Workshops that were held respectively in Grenoble and Montreal, the Third International Workshop on Vortex Flows and Related Numerical Methods was held in August 1998 in Toulouse, France. The international conference center of Meteo-France hosted the meeting attended by one hundred participants from around the world.
This volume presents a collection of forty one papers that were presented at the meeting. The subject of these papers range from fundamentals of vortex dynamics, applied mathematical and numerical developments to physical aspects and applications related to vortex flows and vorticity dynamics.
The publication of this electronic volume in freely available form on the Internet represents an innovative form of archival publication of the research allowing an easier and larger diffusion of the work presented.
Many persons and organizations have contributed to the publication of this volume. First of all we have to thank the authors for their excellent contributions and all the colleagues for their cooperation in the revision process of the papers.
