We are pleased to announce a call for papers for EPJ D topical issue on “Electron and Positron Interactions and Their Applications”. The issue is intended to gather contributions from contemporary research on electron and positron interactions, both theory and experiment, and applications of these studies across areas such as, but not limited to, atmospheric modelling, materials characterisation, medical science, biological imaging and chemical processing.

The increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in writing has sparked discussions around ethics and authorship in the academic publishing industry. The Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) has presented an overview of the current debates on its website and has recently published a position statement regarding the use of AI in research papers.

We extend a very warm welcome to Dr. Silvia Soria in her new role of co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications (JEOS-RP). She joins Sergei Popov, the longstanding Editor-in-Chief, who has led the journal with the support of Co-Editors Riad Haidar, Gerd Leuchs and Sergei Turitsyn as well as an expert, international Editorial Board.

EDP Sciences is pleased to announce that it will no longer be using physical, promotional items, commonly known as 'goodies' or ‘swag’, for corporate promotion at the conferences and events it attends. Instead, it will make annual donations to Fondation de France to support its Children and Education program, especially in providing higher education for all, and to Bibliothèques Sans Frontières to support its mission of promoting access to information and education for marginalized communities.

EDP Sciences and the Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles (SMAI) are delighted to announce that their Subscribe to Open (S2O) model for open access publication of six mathematics journals* has been successfully supported by the library community for another year, allowing the journals to continue to be published in open access in 2023.

We are thrilled to announce that BIO Web of Conferences has been accepted for indexation in Scopus. BIO Web of Conferences is an open access publication series of conference proceedings dealing with all fundamental and applied research in the fields of Biology, Life Sciences and Health.

OCL - Oilseeds and fats, Crops and Lipids, a research journal published by EDP Sciences, has embraced transparent peer review and preprints by becoming a “PCI-friendly” journal, in partnership with Peer Community In (PCI). PCI is a non-profit, non-commercial platform that publishes recommendations of preprints after peer-review through specific communities of researchers. Nearly 100 journals are already on Peer Community In, including two EDP Sciences journals: Mathematical Modelling of Natural Phenomena (the first PCI-friendly maths journal) and International Journal of Limnology.
