OCL - Oilseeds and fats, Crops and Lipids, a research journal published by EDP Sciences, has embraced transparent peer review and preprints by becoming a “PCI-friendly” journal, in partnership with Peer Community In (PCI). PCI is a non-profit, non-commercial platform that publishes recommendations of preprints after peer-review through specific communities of researchers. Nearly 100 journals are already on Peer Community In, including two EDP Sciences journals: Mathematical Modelling of Natural Phenomena (the first PCI-friendly maths journal) and International Journal of Limnology.

There are many PCI communities relevant to the subject matter of OCL, including PCI Ecology. Researchers in these communities review and recommend preprints to turn them into valid, citable and final articles. Once recommended, a preprint can either remain on the preprint server or can be submitted to a journal for publication, including to PCI-friendly journals such as OCL.

PCI-friendly journals may choose to accept a recommended article with no further peer review, may provide a response within a short, specified time or may use PCI reviews and recommendations for their own review processes.

OCL is a peer-reviewed full Open Access scientific journal devoted to fats, lipids and oil- and protein-crops. The research papers and reviews published address a range of topical matters in agronomy, plant biology, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, lipid chemistry, as well as transversal research themes such as nutrition, the health-quality-food safety nexus, innovation and industrial processes, the environment and sustainable development, economics and social development.
