Science Publishing Masterclasses: Nurturing the next generation of authors, reviewers and editors
EDP Sciences offers Science Publishing Masterclasses that harness expertise and specialist resources to help early career researchers and PhD students better understand scholarly publishing. Participants focus on writing and peer reviewing scientific articles as a way of developing and improving their technique.
Understanding the process of peer review and getting research published is daunting for young scientists. Our workshop gives the participants the opportunity to submit their draft articles to get them reviewed by their peers, using the collective intelligence of the group to help participants improve articles in preparation, and build up their writing skills.

Emergent Scientist is an open access international scientific journal dedicated to a student authorship and readership, and to a lesser extent to teachers and researchers. Emergent Scientist is intended to provide students with accessible scientific material and to offer them a first publishing experience. Scientific Editors of Emergent Scientist are on hand to co-facilitate masterclasses, using the Emergent Scientist submission system and published material.
To support the masterclasses, EDP Sciences is producing a series of video interviews with scientific Editors. In these interviews, Editors give their advice to early career researchers, discuss the editorial process at their journal, and share common reasons for acceptance or rejection of articles.
