The Board of the European Acoustics Association, led by its President Manell E. Zakharia, is glad to announce the appointment of a new Editor in Chief to its journal “Acta Acustica”. Starting 1 May 2020, Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. techn. Dr. h.c. Manfred Kaltenbacher will lead the journal.

Prof. Kaltenbacher is presently an associate editor of Acta Acustica. His broad experience of acoustics has recently led him to be elected President of the Austrian Acoustics Association. He is currently Full Professor for Fundamentals and Theory in Electrical Engineering and Acoustics, Head of the Institute of Fundamentals and Theory in Electrical Engineering, TU Graz and Full Professor for Technical Acoustics, Institute of Mechanics and Mechatronics, Vienna University of Technology.

He will be assisted by Dr. Jean Kergomard, the outgoing EiC, who will be acting as “Past Editor in Chief” until the end of 2020 in order to assure a smooth handover.

We would like to thank Dr. Kergomard for all the effort he has put in over the last six years (and will continue to put in) to making Acta Acustica internationally recognized in its field. Very early, he realized the transition of the publishing world to open access and pursued this transition (with the support of the previous board) within the EAA which is now one of the first scientific associations proposing a gold open access journal to its members.
