Only around 10% of journals indexed in the DOAJ are awarded the DOAJ Seal, so it is a gratifying mark of recognition of the excellent work our journals are doing.

“There are seven criteria which a journal must meet to be eligible for the DOAJ Seal. These relate to best practice in long term preservation, use of persistent identifiers, discoverability, reuse policies and authors’ rights.” (DOAJ website)

The DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals) contains over 15 000 peer-reviewed open access journals covering all areas of science, technology, medicine, social sciences, arts and humanities. Open access journals, whose primary target audience are researchers or practitioners, from all countries and in all languages, may apply for inclusion in DOAJ. The presence of an editor and an editorial board is required. All articles must pass through a quality control system (peer review) before publication.
