It is with great pleasure that we are extending our Science Publishing Masterclasses to Chinese researchers and students through a series of four online sessions running from September to December 2022. The sessions relate to journals publishing and begin in September with an “Introduction to scientific publishing” followed by “How to write a scientific research paper”, “How to publish your research paper” and “Open science, Open access”.

The sessions will be delivered by an expert team led by Anne Ruimy, Senior Publishing Editor, EDP Sciences. Anne will be joined by colleagues from EDP Sciences who are specialists in all aspects of serials publication, including the editorial and publishing process, conference proceedings and marketing. They will address issues such as publishing strategy, ethics, peer review and promotion to give a comprehensive overview of scientific publishing. The Beijing office of EDP Sciences is coordinating and supporting the sessions to ensure the best possible experience for participants.

It was widely reported earlier this year that China now accounts for 23.4% of the world’s research output and 27.2% of the world’s top 1% most frequently cited papers, making it the world leader in both scientific research output and “high impact” studies. Chinese researchers and students are naturally keen to publish their work both at home and abroad, and this series of Science Publishing Masterclasses is designed to support those wishing to publish internationally. Researchers from institutions throughout China are invited to register and attend the sessions which will be broadcast via Tencent Meeting.

EDP Sciences has always supported educational activities in the wider community and has run Science Publishing Masterclasses regularly since February 2019 in a variety of settings (including online).
