EDP Sciences and the Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles (SMAI) are pleased to announce further progress in securing Open Access publication for the 2026 volume year under the Subscribe to Open (S2O) model.

Following the publication of our update in May, RAIRO - Operations Research and RAIRO - Theoretical Informatics and Applications have now reached the support threshold required to publish their 2026 content in Open Access.

These journals join ESAIM: Probability and Statistics and Mathematical Modelling of Natural Phenomena, which had already secured their Open Access status for 2026.

With four journals confirmed for Open Access publication in 2026, efforts are now focused on ESAIM: Control, Optimisation and Calculus of Variations andESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis, which have not yet secured the level of support required for 2026.

EDP Sciences and SMAI are therefore calling on the mathematics community, including authors, editors, reviewers, librarians and research institutions, to help support these journals and promote the value of the Subscribe to Open model within their organisations and networks.

The coming weeks will be critical in determining whether these two journals can continue to publish their 2026 content in Open Access.
