We are pleased to report that EDP Sciences has signed a transformative agreement with the Dutch university TU Delft. The agreement covers 2022-2024 and allows corresponding authors from TU Delft to publish a number of open access articles each year in any EDP Sciences journal without paying article processing charges (APCs).

Partnerships for open access
Our partners are very important and really do contribute to “strength in numbers”. One of those is OASPA which was instrumental in the launch of the Initiative for Open Abstracts (I4OA) last year of which we became a supporting publisher from the start. A year on and almost 100 publishers have signed up.

We are pleased to support International Open Access Week which this year addresses “It Matters How We Open Knowledge: Building Structural Equity”. And it really does matter... Fortunately, a number of choices are available to us in open access publishing, some of which, we would argue, offer a better path to structural equity than others.

With the continued support of subscribers, Astronomy & Astrophysics (A&A) journal will be published open access in 2022 under a Subscribe-to-Open model.
Paris, 19 October 2021: The A&A Board of Directors has announced that their journal will move to a Subscribe-to-Open (S2O) model. If libraries renew their subscriptions, A&A will be published in full open access in 2022. Since its launch in 1969, A&A has been publishing pioneering, peer reviewed scientific content. The transition to open access will extend access of its high-quality research to a worldwide audience – furthering the field of astronomy and astrophysics. Library subscriptions, together with substantial contributions from the A&A sponsoring countries, will cover publication and editorial costs and enable content to become open access.

We are glad to announce that Paulo Limão-Vieira has joined the Web of Conferences Editorial board with particular responsibility for EPJ Web of Conferences. Paulo Limão-Vieira is Professor of Molecular Physics at the NOVA School of Science, Lisbon, Portugal, and full researcher at the Centre of Physics and Technological Research, CEFITEC, also in Lisbon.

We would like to congratulate our longstanding colleague, Giorgio Parisi, Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, who has been awarded one half of the Nobel Prize in Physics 2021 “for the discovery of the interplay of disorder and fluctuations in physical systems from atomic to planetary scales”. He shares this wonderful award with Syukuro Manabe and Klaus Hasselmann who, together with Professor Parisi, have been recognised “for groundbreaking contributions to our understanding of complex physical systems”.

We are happy to welcome Alfonso San Miguel as Associate Editor to the EPJ – Special Topics (EPJ ST) editorial board. He is joining an international team of highly respected specialists and will be in charge of topical issues in materials science.

We are glad to introduce Enrico Formenti, from Université de Nice-Sophia Antipolis (now Université Côte d’Azur) as the new Editor-in-Chief of RAIRO-ITA. He replaces two of the current Editors-in-Chief; Dr. Olivier Serre and Prof. Christian Choffrut will retire from their editorial duties, while Dr. Sylvain Périfel will remain as co-Editor-in-Chief for a transition period of one year.

ITM Web of Conferences and the areas of Information Technology, Computer Science and Mathematics.

We are pleased to announce that Mechanics & Industry (M&I) has just been accepted into the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) where it joins over 16,500 other high quality, open access, peer-reviewed journals. These journals cover all areas of science, technology, medicine, social sciences, arts and humanities. In addition to the indexation, M&I has also been awarded the DOAJ Seal for “best practice in open access publishing”. This is a wonderful moment for M&I and comes only a few short months after it transitioned to full open access at the start of 2021.
