An Open Access initiative to sustain the barrier-free availability of EDP Sciences' complete mathematics portfolio

Paris / Berlin, June 10, 2021. In May 2021, EDP Sciences announced that its complete mathematics journal portfolio of six subscription titles—including the flagship journal "ESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical analysis"— transitioned to Open Access (OA) under the innovative Subscribe-to-Open (S2O) model. In partnership with Knowledge Unlatched (KU), EDP Sciences will be asking libraries and institutions currently subscribing to any of the six journals to renew for 2021 and beyond on a S2O basis, thus contributing to maintaining these journals Open Access in years to come.

In July 2020, we were pleased to announce that SICOT-J had been accepted for indexation in Scopus, widely recognised as one of the world’s leading science databases. SICOT-J has now been listed under “Orthopedics and Sports Medicine” and “Surgery” and all content from 2020 to date has been included. The process of listing articles from 2015-2019 is in progress and we expect all content to be fully indexed by Scopus shortly.

Paris, France, 19 May 2021: It is confirmed that five mathematics journals published by EDP Sciences and the Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles (SMAI) will join Mathematical Modelling of Natural Phenomena (MMNP) in open access under the Subscribe-to-Open (S2O) model in 2021*. The transition will further bolster S2O, a transformative model first introduced by Annual Reviews and recently endorsed by cOAlition S.

Report details costs and prices related to the EDP Sciences-SMAI Subscribe-to-Open pilot program for mathematics journals

As advocates of open science, EDP Sciences and the Société de Mathématiques Industrielles et Appliquées (SMAI) are pleased to share the first annual report relating to their Subscribe-to-Open (S2O) program in mathematics. The report includes details of the evolution of subscription prices, renewal targets, publication costs and other key measures. Subscribe-to-Open (S2O) is a transformative model first introduced by Annual Reviews and recently endorsed by cOAlition S. It aims to transition subscription journals to open access, without charging authors to publish, by leveraging existing library procurement processes.

We are proud to announce the publication of “Acoustics of the banjo: measurements and sound synthesis” by Jim Woodhouse, David Politzer, and Hossein Mansour. This is the first “Audio Article” to appear in Acta Acustica and introduces an exciting new article type with embedded audio files for ultra-rich content. A companion scientific article by the same authors is also available, “Acoustics of the banjo: theoretical and numerical modelling”.

Paris, France, 16 March 2021: For the first time, a comprehensive picture of China’s science, technology, and medical (STM) journals and papers is available in the English language. Covering “General Information of China’s STM Journals”, “Analysis of Papers Published by China’s STM Journals” and “Trends of Development of China’s Popular Science Journals”, the Blue Book on China’s Scientific Journal Development 2020 offers unique insights.

We are pleased to announce that the first scientific writing masterclass to be delivered by EDP Sciences in 2021 will take place online from 15 to 17 March.

Within the framework of EDP Sciences masterclass programme, this workshop is sponsored and hosted by Durham University (UK). Participants, 15 PhD students, all take part in i-CONN, a European training programme which consists of 10 Universities and three partner organisations across Europe and is funded by the European Commission under H2020.

New topical issue also includes the first paper published in “Agora – Scientific Reflections”.

On the occasion of its 10 year anniversary and to celebrate a decade of successful activity, The Journal of Space Weather and Space Climate presents the “Topical Issue - 10 years of JSWSC”.

Paris, France, 4 March 2021: The partners involved in the “Accord national open access en France” (National Open Access Agreement in France) are pleased to announce that the agreement is exceeding their expectations when judged against key targets. The Ministère de l'Enseignement Supérieur, de la Recherche et de l'Innovation (the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation - MESRI), the Couperin consortium, the Agence bibliographique de l'enseignement supérieur (Abes) and EDP Sciences are delighted with the results so far and agree that the excellent relationship between the partners has been a significant aspect of this success.

In 2020, we were proud to announce the launch of NESTOR (New Editorial System Tool for Research), a brand-new submission system and the first to fully integrate video submissions. Now, just a few months later, we are glad to confirm the full integration of ORCID in NESTOR. This development significantly increases the features and benefits offered by NESTOR and further cements EDP Sciences’ membership of ORCID.
