Last June, it gave us great pleasure to announce that EDP Sciences and the European Acoustics Association (EAA) had agreed to publish Acta Acustica (formerly Acta Acustica united with Acustica) in partnership from January 2020. At the time, we also announced that the journal would become fully gold open access from January 2020. Now, with the publication of its first editorial, and with four more articles accepted for publication, we are delighted to announce that Acta Acustica is live.

We are pleased to announce that Emergent Scientist has been accepted into the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), its first indexation, where it joins over 13,500 other high quality, open access, peer-reviewed journals. Indexation in the DOAJ means Emergent Scientist is in compliance with the open access policy of the DOAJ and meets all the strict criteria required for inclusion.

EDP Sciences are proud to partner with Astronomy & Astrophysics since the first ‘Scientific Writing for Young Astronomers’ (SWYA) workshop which took place in Belgium in 2008. The 5th SWYA takes place at the Yunnan Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences on 6-10 January 2020 for which they are again sponsoring partners.

4open is pleased to introduce the sixth free article in its ‘Key summaries’ series. The ‘Key summary’ offers an easy to understand description of an article published in 4open by researchers in Italy. The article describes the use and outcomes of solar air heating to dehydrate the leaf-like ‘cladodes’ of the Opuntia prickly pear cactus for increased nutritional and medical applications.

Paris, France: An exchange of signatures took place on 13th November finalising the sale of EDP Sciences to China Science Publishing & Media Ltd. (Science Press). This concludes the agreement reached earlier this year by EDP Sciences’ former co-owners, Société Française de Physique, Société Chimique de France, Société Française d’Optique and Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles, to sell their interests in their publishing partner to Science Press, the flagship of China’s sci-tech publishing industry. Science Press is 74%-owned by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the world’s largest research organisation and a prestigious learned society.
New scientific writing masterclass with a focus on environmental sciences at Université Paris-Saclay

Following the launch of a new series of masterclasses on scientific writing for PhD students and young researchers earlier this year, the Lumen Learning Center of Université Paris-Saclay and EDP Sciences are pleased to host the second scientific writing masterclass, taking place on 12-13 November 2019.
